Just google Alexander the Great Hero or Villain and plenty of information comes up.

Alexander the Great, one of the greatest conquerors in human history. Generally speaking the West has a favorable historical view of Alexander. He is looked at as a highly intelligent man having learned from his personal tutor, Aristotle. Alexander showed incredible military genius and personal drive to achieve great heights. Military historians, generals, and leaders throughout the ages have marveled and been inspired by the man.

However, there is another side to the story. In Asia Minor and Central Asia Alexander is not looked up as great man, but a cruel and inhumane warmonger. He brought death and destruction to the ancient Persian empire, took innumberable slaves, and forced upon the population his Greek culture. Many of his own men questioned his tactics and openly rebelled when Alexander pushed them to the brink of destruction in his aims to conquer the world.

So was Alexander the Great a hero or villain?
